Course modules
- The 30,000 foot view:
During the first module, you’ll get a whirlwind tour of the new SharePoint 2010 visual interface, learn the key points to help you navigate a typical SharePoint 2010 site, and get up to speed on new functionality exposed to end users via the web interface. - Site types:
There are several types of sites available in SharePoint 2010 – during this session, you’ll learn about the site templates you get out of the box, and how to choose the one to use. Here’s a hint: You’re going to be surprised with wikis! - Lists, Libraries, The New List View Web Part and Web Part Connections:
Dive into enhancements made to lists and libraries, including new methods of applying a standard taxonomy (metadata) to your site content and ways to include lookup data from external data sources. See how Web Part Connections make it easy to build drill-down applications with no code. Finally, remember your favorite and mine, the Data View Web Part? It’s back with a vengeance, and it’s everywhere! Gone are the days of lamenting the differences between the List View Web Part and the Data View Web Part. No more page reloads just to refresh changing list data. This is a crash course, and you should expect to walk away stunned, with your mind swimming with the possibilities. - SharePoint Designer – Holy cow!:
Folks, SharePoint Designer 2010 (SPD) has changed a lot. No longer a tool to be feared, learn how SPD prevents users from making unsupported changes to your web sites, see how easy it is to administer your sites from a central interface, and learn about the major enhancements provided by SPD. - Workflows, Wow!:
Hold on to your seats – workflow in SharePoint 2010 has gotten a big ol’ injection of “WOW”. See how you can use SharePoint Designer to create workflows and reusable workflow templates – that’s right, I said reusable – and be prepared to pick up your jaw when you see how SharePoint Designer and Visio can be used together to visually model your SharePoint workflows. - Office 2010:
This massive day-and-a-half collection of modules focuses on each of the Office 2010 applications, as well as an introduction to the new SharePoint Workspace tool. See how Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and OneNote interact with SharePoint 2010.
